KITGUM – It’s business unusual as two Presidential candidates’ campaigning programs clashed.

According to Electoral Commission campaign programme 2020/2021, both NRM and FDC candidates, Yoweri Tubuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni and Patrick Oboi Amuriat respectively are slated to be in Kitgum where they are meant to hold their campaign meetings on Tuesday, November 17.

However, this has created fear hence Police in Aswa River region seeking the intervention of the EC.

The candidates are National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s Yoweri Museveni, who is the incumbent and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Patrick Amuriat.

According to Mr Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police spokesperson for Aswa region, this may cause a clash between supporters. He, however, urged supporters from both camps to remain calm in case the matter is not resolved.

“We have engaged EC on the matter and we are yet to get their response but if they do not respond we shall do our best to keep Kitgum calm,’’ he said on Monday.

NRM Chairperson Kitgum district Jimmy George Ayera said for them they are set to receive their candidate at Bomah grounds.
