KAMPALA – Makindye West member of parliament and Katwe United Football Club proprietor Hon. Allan Alosious Sewanyana has declared his candidature to run for FUFA presidency in the forthcoming electoral General Assembly slated for August.
“I am presenting myself as a candidate for the position of FUFA president at the next General Assembly. We must make football an enjoyable environment for every stakeholder including myself, Players, Investors, Coaches, Sponsors, media, and fans,” Sewanyana said.
The shadow sports minister made the official announcement while addressing the press on Monday at his offices in Makindye -Lukuli Nanganda road.
Sewanyana will be racing FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo who is seeking third term.
Magogo’s current term of office will officially expire on 31st August 2021.
This is the second term since coming into office in 2013.
Magogo succeeded Lawrence Mulindwa who had served for eight years in office.
Key of Magogo’s achievements at the helm of FUFA presidency was restoration of sanity in the game’s administration from divisionism and in-fighting.
He has also worked to clean the image of the beautiful game and was able to lure more sponsors on board, increased competitions like Women Elite, Women Super League, Beach Soccer, Odilo (U-15 League), FUFA Drum (Inter-Provinces) and others.
